Terms & data notice

Using the 3DPainMap preview.

3DPainMap is still in development. Feel free to explore it using real or made-up symptoms.

Who you are agreeing with

DevPT LLC operates 3DPainMap.

3DPainMap (also reachable at pain3d.com and devpt.app) is operated by DevPT LLC, a limited liability company registered in North Dakota, United States. "We" and "us" in these terms mean DevPT LLC. For how we handle data, see our privacy policy at /privacy; Washington State residents also have a separate Consumer Health Data Privacy Policy at /consumer-health-data. Questions about these terms, a pilot, or data handling go to privacy@3dpain.app, and a person will answer.

Development status

A preview, offered as-is.

3DPainMap is an in-development research and education prototype made available for evaluation. Features, measurement outputs, export formats, and stored data structures may change, regress, or be removed at any time, and the service may be unavailable, reset, or discontinued without notice. It is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement.

Not a medical device

Measurement model, not diagnosis.

3DPainMap is a measurement model, not a diagnostic device. It is not cleared or approved by the FDA or any other regulator, its metrics are not validated clinical endpoints, and nothing it produces is medical advice. Derived PAINT metrics are symptom-burden measures intended to support documentation, comparison, education, and research — they do not diagnose, predict outcomes, or recommend treatment. Clinicians remain fully responsible for interpretation and for any clinical decision. Never disregard or delay professional medical advice because of something you saw in this tool, and in an emergency contact local emergency services.

Data and storage

Your work stays in this browser.

During the open-access preview there is no account system and no server-side record store. Patients, charts, findings, and history you create are written to this browser's local storage on this device only. That means:

  • Nothing you draw or type in the workspace is transmitted to or retained on our servers.
  • Clearing browsing data, "clear site data", private/incognito windows, aggressive storage eviction by the browser, or uninstalling the installed app will permanently delete your work.
  • Your work does not sync — it is not available on another device, another browser, or another profile on the same device.
  • Anyone with access to this device and browser profile can open what you saved. Treat it as unprotected local data.
  • There is no backup and no recovery. Export anything you need to keep, using the export options in the workspace.

Your data

Map your own symptoms. The record stays yours.

3DPainMap is a developing research tool and a clinical communication resource, and it is built to be used for real. If you live with pain, mapping your own symptoms is the point of it. Everything you draw, type, and measure is written to your own browser on your own device: there is no account, no server-side record store, and no copy of your map anywhere else. Nobody can hand it over — including us — and nothing reaches another person unless you send it.

  • Nothing you create in the workspace is transmitted to us. The one exception is the feedback form, which sends only what you type into it, and an email address only if you choose to give one so we can reply.
  • A report you export or share carries no name, no contact details, and no account identifier, because the product holds none. It can carry general information you choose to include — your age, what aggravates or eases a symptom, and a condition you describe in your own words.
  • Once you send a report to someone, it is beyond our reach and beyond your control. Think about who will be able to see it, and for how long, before you share it. Screenshots and forwarded files outlive the conversation they were sent for.
  • If you are recording information about another person — a clinician charting a patient, an educator using a real case — their consent and your own compliance obligations remain yours, including HIPAA, FERPA, GDPR, institutional review, and any employer or school policy.
  • We make no blanket compliance claim for this preview. Data-governance terms for a clinical or research pilot are agreed with each partner in writing before sensitive data is involved.

What is coming

Connecting your record to a clinic or a study will require an account.

Securely linking what you map to a clinician, a clinic, or a research project is being built. It does not exist yet. Until it does, there is no way for anything you create to be enrolled in a study, added to a medical record, or pooled with anyone else's — not by us, and not by anyone else. When that capability ships it will require you to sign in and to agree to it specifically, it will say plainly what is being shared and with whom, and this notice will be updated in the same release rather than afterwards.

What we do collect

Aggregate usage analytics on public pages.

The site uses Google Analytics to count page views and basic usage on our public information pages, so we can see which pages get used. It is switched off entirely on the workspace, the read-only viewer, and the embed — on those pages no request is made to Google at all. That telemetry is about navigation, not clinical content: it does not include your charts, findings, notes, or anything you paint in the workspace. The pilot-interest form currently saves what you type to this browser rather than sending it to us, so we do not receive it — email us directly if you want a reply. Browser storage keys used by the app (guest identity, saved charts, dismissed notices) stay on your device. Full detail is in our privacy policy at /privacy.

Liability

Limits, in plain terms.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, DevPT LLC and its members, employees, and contributors are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or exemplary damages, or for any loss of data, work product, revenue, or goodwill, arising from your use of this preview — including data lost from browser storage. You use the preview at your own risk and are responsible for exporting anything you need to keep.

Ownership

Your content is yours; the software is ours.

You keep ownership of the content you create. Because that content never leaves your browser during the preview, we claim no license to it. The 3DPainMap software, anatomical atlas, PAINT measurement model, and site content remain the property of their respective owners and are made available by DevPT LLC for evaluation only — not for redistribution, resale, or derivative commercial products without written permission.

Changes and contact

These terms will evolve with the product.

We may update these terms as the product moves out of preview — for example when accounts and server-side storage arrive, at which point the storage description above will no longer apply. Continued use after an update means you accept the revised terms. Questions about these terms, a pilot, or data handling: email privacy@3dpain.app. Please use that address rather than the pilot-interest form, which currently stays on your own device and does not reach us.

Working with real data

Pilot terms are agreed in writing, before any sensitive data.
